The Dangers of Frozen Pipes
Preventing frozen pipes should be top of mind whenever temperatures fall below freezing. Because water expands when it freezes, frozen pipes can burst. When this happens, you’ll deal with more than reduced water pressure, and water damage is almost sure to follow.

It’s important to know how to identify frozen pipes to prevent a burst or other damage. Signs of frozen pipes include:
Just like you wear warm coats and gloves to protect yourself from the cold, you need to take extra care of your pipes in the winter. If your pipes freeze, you could experience severe water damage. Call your local Mr. Rooter team today for expert pipe protection and any other plumbing needs.

The Neighborly Done Right Promise® delivered by Mr Rooter Plumbing®, a proud Neighborly company.
There are few things as relaxing as soaking in a hot bath after a hard day of work. However, that joy can turn into frustration when you realize you don’t have a bath stopper or it’s no longer doing its job.
In our years of experience, we have found that our customers prefer an accurate price based on their exact plumbing problem. Most phone quotes are subject to change once the service technician sees the job. We don't think that is fair to you. By allowing us to diagnose your plumbing problem in person, you will know exactly what it will take to get the job done.
A typical plumbing inspection can vary in price depending on the size of your home or property. With Mr. Rooter®, an in-home inspection is completely free with repair or any other type of plumbing service. This includes an in-depth inspection from a trained and licensed plumbing professional.
Water heaters are essential for your home, providing warm showers, clean dishes, and sanitized laundry. When water heaters malfunction, it can disrupt your daily routine. Some of the most common signs that a water heater is not working are a strange odor, a leaking water tank, low water pressure, and a noisy water heater.

Here’s how to prevent frozen pipes:
Insulate your exterior pipes and use heat tape.
Let your faucets drip during cold days (indoor faucets only).
Open the cabinet doors under sinks to allow indoor air to warm your pipes.
Seal exterior door openings with weather stripping.
Detach, drain, and store garden hoses for the winter.
In general, outdoor pipes are the most likely to freeze. They are exposed to the coldest temperatures and have the least insulation. The following pipe types are most vulnerable to freezing:
Water sprinkler lines
Outdoor hoses
Plumbing in unheated interiors, such as in the basement, garage, attic, etc.
Outdoor pipes with no insulation or heat tape
If you have any of the above pipes, you need to take preventative measures against frozen pipes as soon as possible.
Without swift action, frozen water pipes can cause major leaks. Just one rupture can dump four to eight gallons of water every minute. The resulting damage and repair bill can cost thousands of dollars. For these reasons and more, it’s important to prevent frozen pipes rather than fix them after things go wrong.
